Puppy Classes

Abbey House runs the Good Citizen Dog Scheme Puppy Foundation Assessment (part of the Kennel Club).

The aim of the course is to set the foundations for the future and help you and your puppy to have a happy life together.

This class shows you how to teach your dog to do various commands eg. lay down, stay, walking to heel and recall. Training is done with clickers and the instructors are there to offer advice on all the usual puppy problems like house training and mouthing.

Classes are a good way to start to socialise your puppy with other puppies and other people.

At the end of the course owners and puppies get a certificate and rosette (there are no exams as the instructors assess over the duration of the course).

The only criteria needed are that the puppies have had their 1st vaccination and they must be 14 weeks or under when they start the course (as it is really important to socialise your puppy as much as possible before it is 16 weeks of age). The maximum number for a class is 6 puppies and it is a 6 week course run on Monday nights at our Morley surgery and costs £35.
