RABBIT AWARENESS WEEK 23rd - 29th May 2011

RABBIT AWARENESS WEEK

………….BECAUSE RABBITS GET A RAW DEAL……….23RD – 29TH MAY 2011

Rabbits are the third most popular pet after cats and dogs in Britain, however according to some RSPCA statistics they are often the most neglected with 35,000 abandoned every year!

The RSPCA found that 70% of rescued rabbits had been kept in a hutch 24 hours a day. Almost 40% had no food and half had been living in filthy conditions. Many people had bought rabbits but then quickly lost interest. On average the abandoned pets the RSPCA came across had been dumped after just three months. Many were simply released in the street or in the wild.

Rabbits can live for up to eight years and costs can reach to £4,000 over their lifetime.  This certainly needs to be considered when deciding if a rabbit is a suitable pet.

Sadly many pet owners do not understand just what a rabbit needs to live a healthy, happy life………. A hutch is NOT enough!!

SO AT ABBEY HOUSE WE ARE OFFERING FREE RABBIT HEALTH CHECKS WITH OUR QUALIFIED VETERINARY NURSES FOR RABBIT AWARENESS WEEK. 23RD – 29TH MAY 2011
